But the best taste will come only when you prepare them at home, in your kitchen. And off course if you are trying to have a healthy mochar chop recipe, then better to prepare at home only. In this post I will be sharing the best way to make mochar chop at home in typical Bengali style and enjoy unlimited numbers as you wish. But make sure, you don't over eat. :)

Ingredients To Make Mochar Chop Recipe

  • 1 - Mochar Phul/Banana Blossom Heart- cut half then each half in semi thin slice. You have to know how to cut Mocha properly so that you make sure you provide the best taste to your family. Generally one have to take out the central stem from each piece of Mocha flower and then cut them in small pieces
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 5-6 green chili finely chopped
  • 4-5 potatoes boiled
  • 1/2 tbsp powder
  • 1 cup besan
  • 1 cup rice flour to make it crispy.
  • 1 cup maida / general flour
  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp vegetable masala powder / Magi magic masala / Any other masala to add little flavor
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Oil for deep frying

How To Prepare Bengali Style Crispy Banana Flower Pakora

  • First of all, you have to boil the mocha or chipped banana flowers in a bowl for few minutes.
  • In a pressure cooker boil few potatoes and peel them for further process.
  • Next, drain the water properly from the banana flowers and then put into a big bowl.
  • Now, add boiled potatoes, chopped onions, coriander leaves, salt, sugar, masala in to the ball.
  • Start mixing them well and try to make a dough. If require, add maida time to time to make the dough little tough to make balls from them.
  • In a separate bowl, mix besan, rice atta, salt, sugar, baking powder and make a thick batter. Don't put water unnecessary.
  • Now heat oil in a pan and make it enough hot.
  • Now, you have to make small balls or your preferred shape from the dough we prepared previously.
  • Take the balls one by one and dip them on the batter and put them in the oil. You can also use breadcrumbs here to make it more crispy. But I did not used the same here, as I am using rice atta which will bring a different crispy layer on top of the banana flower dough.
  • Fry them till they turn brown.
  • Serve them hot with sauce or any green chutney as per your preference. When you break them in 2 part, you will find the soft banana flower dough inside and a crispy layer on top. Just have a bite and enjoy the awesome taste.
  • Personally, I preferred such pakora recipes with evening tea. The best snack time of the day.
Recipe Tips: If you are preparing Mochar Kofta curry then make sure the size of the balls and little small. You can follow the same recipe at least to make till the mochar koftas and then put them in your curry. You can also change the shape of the koftas or mochar pakoras as per your choice. E.g. if you are trying for Indian Banana flower cutlet, then with little changes with the ingredients you can make vegetable cutlet with the same process, off course the shape of the cutlet have to taken care.
